This course will provide students with an orientation to online learning, basic prerequisite technology and computer skills, time-management, and study skills that are necessary to be a successful online learner. It will also provide alternative students an orientation to current online offerings through PLATO and Butte College.

This is a course of study covering Europe from approximately 1450 A.D. to the present. It introduces students to key people, events, concepts, and trends while focusing on the broad cultural, intellectual, economic, political, diplomatic, and social developments that played a fundamental role in shaping modern Europe. A major emphasis of this course is not only on the acquisition of knowledge about European History but also on the analysis of, interpretation of, and ability to write about historical documents and information. Sophomore students in World History study the development of Western governments and society from Ancient Greece and Rome to modern times. Major units include government and the revolutionary period, industrialization, imperialism, WWI and the rise of dictators, WWII, the Cold War, and post-Cold War world. It is hoped that students will gain a greater appreciation for the world around them and their role in it.

The curriculum for this course is based on the History-Social Science Content Standards for California Public Schools.
