This problem is primarily created when the converters incorrectly handle the UTF converting during the CSV to VCF conversion. That is something I faced while importing international names. After that, I moved to a reliable CSV to vCard converter, which was compatible with different encodings and kept the special characters intact without any issues. Besides, it enabled me to view the contacts before the final conversion so that I could be sure of the accuracy. The VCF file created was able to be opened by both Android and Outlook without any loss of data. Today, I use GainTools vCard to CSV Converter as my tool for contact management and backup in both CSV and VCF formats, which is very easy and fast.
