My OST file has become inaccessible after an Outlook crash — how can I fix it?
by Zane Barrenger - Monday, 13 October 2025, 3:59 AM

Outlook suddenly crashed while syncing emails, and since then, I can't open it anymore. It keeps showing a message that says, "The OST file cannot be accessed.” I didn't delete or move anything, but Outlook just refuses to load the mailbox now.
I tried restarting and even running the repair option under Account Settings, but nothing changed. Does anyone know how to make the OST file accessible again without recreating it? I'm worried I might lose my unsynced drafts and calendar updates.

If your OST file has become inaccessible after an Outlook crash, try a professional tool like FixVare OST Converter. It can safely recover emails and other data from inaccessible OST files with zero data loss and complete data integrity. If you have badly damaged or inaccessible files, try to use this tool because if you go the manual way, it does not maintain folder hierarchy and might lose your data. It has a user-friendly interface, which makes it easy to use without any trouble.
