I had my work laptop crash on me in the middle of a work emergency, and IT gave me the configuration of a new laptop (they were great), but could not "clone/re-imaging/whatever it's called" my old hard drive, so the only option was an Outlook .PST file imported. Something went wrong with the import, and now I have nearly every folder duplicated in my Outlook. I didn't want to bug IT again since they put in a rush order to give me a laptop in a couple of hours. I decided to see if there was an easy solution to my duplication dilemma by going online. To this point, I have come up empty (except for some duplicate software, I do not know if it works), but nothing else. The "Clean Up Folder" option under the HOME choice has not helped (or I am not doing it correctly), and I am currently looking at a long process of right-clicking and choosing the "delete folder" option, and I estimate I am looking at over a thousand.
Do I have any choices, then? Could I delete everything in my inbox and reimport my .pst? I realize that the export function allows you the option of replacing duplicates or not exporting duplicates. Does the import function have that choice as well? Would that re-create my inbox with one set of folders? If not, do any of the third-party software applications actually work?
