How to Split vCard File Exported from Gmail or Android Without Losing Special Fields?
by Theo Harmony - Thursday, 31 July 2025, 11:42 PM

I recently exported my contacts as a single VCF file from Gmail (Google Contacts) / my Android phone. The file has special fields like contact photos, birthdays, notes, and some custom labels. Now I want to split this big vCard file into separate VCF files (one per contact) for easier sharing and management -- but I am worried about losing those special fields or having them corrupted. Does anyone know a reliable way or tool that can safely split a vCard file exported from Gmail or Android, while fully preserving all contact photos, custom fields, and other metadata?

If you try to separate a vCard file exported from Gmail or Android without losing special fields (picture, notes, custom labels, etc.), use an offline computer tool like WholeClear Split vCard Software. This program can run standalone (offline), supports all vCard versions (2.1, 3.0, 4.0), and keeps every contact and contact attachment together (images, email types, address, etc.) when splitting. This tool does not require the internet. A free demo is also available for all users.
